The Sacred Bead and Other Symbols of Faith
June 1, 2006 through October 20, 2007

The Bead Museum's exhibit "Sacred Beads and Other Symbols of Faith" examines how humans have used beads as elements of their religions in Ancient Egyptian faith, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Animism/Shamanism.

Historical ties among religions, items unique to particular faiths, and the continuity of the use of beads and other forms of personal adornment are important elements of the exhibit. One of the important artifacts is the commonality of prayer necklaces among many religions, several of which are on display. The connection between beads and faith is an important one, with beads being an important part of spiritual belief today.
